Qanibay al-Sayfi mosque is a Mosque in Cairo, Egypt. The complex belongs to Qanibay al-Sayfi who was amir akhur, or Grand Master of the Horse during the reign of Sultan al-Ghuri. It was built between 1503 and 1504 or around 908 AH on a large site on a hill watching over the hippodrome and Madrasa-Mosque of Sultan Hasan. The site was chosen since the horse market and stables of the Citadel were originally located just off the square. The complex has a main façade that takes maximum advantage of the view and at the same time exposes itself to the crowds below. The complex was restored first in 1895 and then again in the early 2000s.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Funerary Complex of Qanibay Amir Akhur | Archnet )〕 The unique dome of the mosque is printed on the 200 Egyptian pound currency and the mosque is closed since 1992 for the cause of being under restoration. ==References==
